Philip Buttery has been appointed as the Director General of the Air League and takes up his post as of June 2018.
Phil has an extensive background in aviation having had a career as an officer in the Royal Air Force. During his military career his appointments included Station Commander, Head of Military Airpace and Navigation Policy at the Ministry of Defence and Finance Director at a NATO air operations centre. More recently, Phil has been a Business Development Director at BRE and in the NHS.
Phil joins The Air League with an intrinsic knowledge of membership organisations, having run three in the past, two of which were Trade Associations and one of which was based in Paris.
Phil is a graduate of the Aerosystems Course and a former Trials Officer at The Aeroplane and Armament Experimental Establishment at Boscombe Down. He was a member of the team, seconded to Boeing, that brought the E3D and E3F into service. He holds a Masters Business Degree from Cranfield University and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. He has won Service awards for the design of unmanned aircraft and electronic warfare.
