The Air League would wish to record the very sad news of the death of the legendary Mary Ellis at the age of 101. Mary was a young ATA pilot during the Second World War delivering spitfires around the UK often in terrible weather and in conditions which would put many lesser pilots in doubt of being able to reach their destination.
She and other women members of the ATA were recognised by Winston Churchill for their indomitable courage and contribution in the War in helping the Few save this country from invasion.
We shall remember and never forget Mary Ellis and all of her courageous other fellow pilots in the ATA.
