Electric Flying Scholarships
The Air League’s Electric Flying Scholarship offers a unique opportunity to experience the future of aviation through hands-on training in electric aircraft. This scholarship, delivered at Norwich Airport, is designed for aspiring aviators who are passionate about both flying and the transition towards a more sustainable aviation industry.
As aviation continues to innovate and adopt new technologies, this scholarship provides an introduction to electric flight while developing practical flying skills, industry knowledge, and an understanding of sustainable aerospace solutions.

- Five hours of flying training in the all-electric Pipistrel Velis Electro, the world’s first certified electric aircraft.
- Simulator training to support flight development and learning.
- Ground school sessions covering key aviation knowledge and flight principles.

- Accommodation provided for scholars travelling from outside the local area, where required.

Applications open on Tuesday, 1st of December 2026. Applications close at 5:00pm on Tuesday, 23rd of March 2027.
Our Electric Flying Scholarships include 5 hours flying on the Pipistrel Velis Electro, with additional simulator time, ground school and sustainability-focused discussions. The scholarships will be flown with Saxon Air at Norwich Airport across 3-4 days in Summer 2025. Accommodation will be provided to those that do not live in the local area.
You must be aged 16 or older by the 1st of June 2026 to be eligible. You must also not already hold a LAPL, PPL, NPPL, PPL, MPL, CPL or ATPL.
Yes. All applicants must hold an active Air League membership.
The application process is split into two stages.
The first stage is an assessment of your application by two independent members of the scholarship selection committee.
If you are successful in the first stage, you will be invited to a second stage interview.
Yes. Interviews will take place across 3 days in late April 2027 in London. Online interviews will be made available to those who are unable to travel to London.
Up to 5 Electric Flying Scholarships will be awarded in 2027.
Yes. This scholarship can be counted towards your PPL hours.
