Flying scholarships, alongside the Air League’s other programmes, provide individuals with an opportunity to build a foundation to enhance their journey into the various professional disciplines available within aviation, aerospace, and space.

The Air League’s tiered approach offers those with zero to little experience a chance to gain skill, build an understanding and an insight into the amazing career pathways available.

The Air League can offer you unrivalled support and looks for those with a flare to succeed and the determination to join our fantastic industries.

What’s New?

The 2022 programme builds on a record breaking 2021 where over £120,000 was awarded to individuals across the UK. This year sees the introduction of several changes that aim to deliver the maximum impact to the Air League’s beneficiaries.

These changes include the introduction of a 3-hour scholarship to compliment the 5- and 12-hour awards. This scholarship provides an introductory course into aviation and aerospace. The course is held over a two-day period on pre-selected dates at the Air League’s approved training providers, and offers an initial powered flying experience combined with ground school theory and an engineering taster experience. The scholarships aim is to create a foundation for a young person’s career pathway into aviation and aerospace.

The Prince Philip Flying Scholarship that awards a previous flying scholar who has displayed outstanding potential and allows the individual who is member of the Air Training Corps and who also holds a Duke of Edinburgh Award to achieve their full private pilot’s licence will also be awarded.

Am I eligible?

The Air League’s scholarships are open to anyone that meet the legal requirements listed in the application criteria. The Air League’s vision is to change lives through aviation and believes there should be no educational, financial, or social barriers for those who want to succeed. The minimum age has also been reduced to 16, with no upper age limit across all scholarships.

The Air League has also teamed up with TalentView Aviation to ensure all our scholarship applicants continue their career pathways within aviation and aerospace.
