How We Work

How We Work

The Air League helps young people take their first steps into aviation and aerospace, whatever their background.

We focus on finding talent, removing barriers and supporting people with the potential to succeed, but who may not otherwise get the opportunity.

understanding what young people need

We know that aviation and aerospace can feel hard to access. Training is expensive, opportunities can be difficult to find, and many young people don’t have personal connections in the industry.

That’s why we design our programmes around real challenges young people face, including:

  • The cost of training, education and early career experience
  • Limited access to flying or hands-on aviation opportunities
  • Lack of information about the range of careers available

We work with industry and education partners to make sure our support matches what the sector actually needs, now and in the future.

supporting you to get started

The Air League provides practical support to help you move forward.

Depending on the programme, this may include:

  • Scholarships and bursaries to help pay for training or education
  • Funded flying and aviation experience opportunities
  • Activities that help you understand different aviation and aerospace careers

Our programmes are designed for people who are motivated and committed, but need extra support to take the next step.

what you gain

Our support is about more than funding.

Young people who take part in Air League programmes often gain:

  • Confidence and belief in their own potential
  • A clearer understanding of aviation and aerospace career pathways
  • Skills such as leadership, teamwork, communication and resilience
  • Experience that helps strengthen applications for education, training or jobs

Many go on to progress into further training, education or employment in aviation, aerospace and related fields.

working with others

The Air League doesn’t work alone.

We partner with:

  • Aviation and aerospace organisations
  • Training providers and educational institutions
  • Volunteers who share their time, experience and advice

These partnerships help us offer high-quality opportunities and connect young people with the wider aviation and aerospace community.

our commitment

As a charity, we take our responsibility seriously.

We are committed to:

  • Using our funding responsibly
  • Treating all applicants fairly
  • Creating opportunities that deliver real value for young people

Our trustees oversee our work to ensure everything we do supports our mission and delivers long-term impact.
