This week, the Air League, together with Southend-on-Sea Borough Council and SAVS hosted groups of young people across the South Essex region at Cambridge Gliding Centre. This Soaring to Success event enabled young people to experience something completely new and unforgettable, especially after a difficult time during the disruption that COVID-19 has caused to their daily lives.
As well as providing everyone the opportunity to take to the skies in a glider, the Air League also hosted people from the aviation industry to come and share their experiences with the young people. We were lucky enough to host Kirsty Murphy, DfT Aviation Ambassador and display pilot for The Blades Aerobatics Team as well as colleagues from the Airlne industry during our week at Cambridge Gliding Centre.
The Soaring to Success programme will continue in the South Essex region from September onwards with a series of workshops planned as well as further flying opportunities being provided to young people in 2021.
We are also venturing into new regions and announcing further collaborations shortly.
We are extremely grateful to the DfT and our other sponsors and collaborators for making Soaring to Success possible and helping us Change Lives Through Aviation.
