Two 12 Hour Scholarships Sponsored by Flying School Instructor and Examiner Dr Guy Wakeley

The Air League sends its sincere gratitude to Dr Guy Wakeley, Staff Flying Instructor and Examiner at South Warwickshire Flying School, for his sponsorship of two 12 hour Flying Scholarships in 2024.

Dr Guy Wakeley comes from a military family with both his parents having served in the British Army during his upbringing. He holds an MA in Engineering Science from Cambridge and a PhD in Applications of Artificial Intelligence to Engineering Design from Newcastle. He is a Chartered Engineer, a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, and a Financial Conduct Authorities Approved Person. He is a Commercial Pilot, Flying Instructor and CAA Commercial and Instrument Rating Flight Examiner.

He owns and flies a Piper Seneca twin-engined aeroplane for business and pleasure. Guy also owns and provides South Warwickshire Flying School with both its touring Piper Warrior aeroplanes.

South Warwickshire Flying School have supported the Air League’s mission and charitable work for over 20 years through the provision of Scholarships and training for Scholars and Members. Based in Wellesbourne, near Stratford-upon-Avon, the school has a fleet of 10 aircraft and provides training for PPL(A) and LAPL licenses as well as IMC and Night Ratings. Some of South Warwickshire Flying School’s instructors are previous Air League Scholars. The school also supports the Air Cadets and other aviation organisations, having been a leader in the general aviation training sector since 1989.
