Recently, the Air League held its’ annual Battle Back gliding course, run in partnership with Boeing, the Army Gliding Association and Help for Heroes at Wyvern Gliding Club.

The programmes are designed for members of the British Forces returning from active service who have either physical or psychological disabilities and injuries. They are designed to be workforce transition, recovery and rehabilitation programmes that allows our scholars to build self-confidence and self-belief whilst at the same time being able to gain life skills and explore the opportunities available to them within aviation and aerospace.

The 11 students consisted of both serving and veteran members of the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, Army and Royal Air Force. Despite the high winds, the students all took part in gliding lessons battling the challenging weather. We are glad that the course was beneficial for all involved, and wish this year’s cohort all the best for the future. We’d like to thank our Sponsor, Boeing, and Partners, the Army Gliding Association and Help for Heroes, for their continued support in our joint aim of Changing Lives through Aviation.
