The Air League’s scholarship programme continues to play an important role in the UK’s aviation and aerospace industries’ skills agenda. Due to the current situation we face with COVID-19, we are naturally having to adjust some of the programme for 2020, though do intend to deliver the maximum benefit we can to our scholars.
5 and 12-hour Flying Scholarships
We will shortly be inviting shortlisted scholars to take part in Skype Interviews. The timescales for scholarship completion have been extended to Spring/Summer 2021 (subject to further review). We will hopefully be able to offer some residential courses in August/September 2020 (or in the Spring of 2021) but as a back up, we will ask all successful scholars to find an alternative, local flying training provider to complete their hours with on a non-residential basis. We will be closely working with those who have been successful in their scholarship applications but ask for flexibility, understanding and patience under the current difficult circumstances that we, and the flying schools face.
Flying Bursaries
Applicants for flying bursaries will be informed by the end of March regarding the outcome of their application. Completion deadlines for bursaries to be extended to May 31st 2021.
Gliding Scholarships
Applicants for Gliding Scholarships will be contacted by the end of March regarding the outcome of their application. At this point, the gliding scholarship course is due to run in August 2020, however this again will be subject to change.
