The Air League has today launched a new scholarship, backed by Marshall Aerospace, which will help young people to explore careers in the aviation and aerospace sector.

The Air League, which is the UK’s leading aviation and aerospace charity, with a vision focused on changing lives through aviation has been working with Marshall Aerospace for the past six months to bring this opportunity to life.

Marshall Aerospace, who are based at Cambridge City Airport, are one of the largest privately owned, independent aerospace and defence companies in the UK.

Four scholars will have the opportunity to shadow engineering and maintenance personnel as well as working on current projects being undertaken at the Airport.

The scheme will also include full board accommodation for the 2-week duration of the scholarship and travel costs can be covered.

Applications opened on 17th April and will close on 21st May.

The scholarship is open to all who would be interested in sparking a career in the aviation sector, who is 18 or over by 1 June 2023, a UK citizen, and an Air League Member.

You can easily become an Air League member by signing up for individual membership on the charity’s website.

Ian Morrison, CEO of Air League said:

“At The Air League, our vision is to change lives through aviation and believe there should be no educational, financial, or social barriers for those who want to succeed.

“We’re therefore thrilled to be working with Marshall Aerospace to provide four new paid scholarships for the next generation of aspiring aerospace engineers.

“Marshall is a stalwart of the local aviation industry, and their support sends a strong signal of how important it is for businesses across the industry to support paid placement schemes like this one.”

Neil McManus, Managing Director, Marshall Aerospace comments:

“Marshall has a proud history of supporting young people to launch their careers in Aerospace Engineering and we are delighted to be involved in this new initiative, particularly at a time when our industry is facing such a significant skills shortage.”
