On Wednesday, 27th November, was the Air League’s 2019 Youth in Aviation and Aerospace parliamentary reception, hosted by Baroness Garden of Frognal.

This year, with the sponsorship of Boeing UK, the annual event under the Youth in Aviation and Aerospace initiative held the theme of “Inspiring future leaders, pioneers and professionals”.

The House of Lords – Cholmondeley Room welcomed some 145 guests for the afternoon, whereby exhibiting organisations showcased their work in increasing diversity and opportunities for young people within the industry.

We were honoured to hear from our guest speakers, including students and cadets, who highlighted the impact of some of our collaborative flagship programmes and initiatives, such as the following:

Nothern Ireland Wing Air Training Corps – Build a plane project – ‘G-NIAC’

British Airways – Your Flying Future Rory Cockshaw

– Boeing Gliding to Solo Scheme

Barnsley Council – Soaring to Success

During the course of the afternoon, we also had the pleasure of hosting the Royal Air Squadron’s trophy presentation to Wilson’s School, and the certificate presentation to the winner of the Air League 110th anniversary poster, competition, Jemma Westing, along with runner-ups Hanna Gillam and Joe Potter.

A big thank you to all of our guests for attending, and we look forward to continue in working together with our peers under the Youth in Aviation and Aerospace initiative.
