The Air League welcomes the announcement of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on General Aviation that it intends to investigate the way that airspace changes are processed by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) in the UK.

The Secretary of State should have a power of call-in on all airspace change applications, not only those of national importance.

Airspace is a national resource which should be accessible to all, limited only if a clear, convincing and overriding case is made out by an airport whether civil or military. Too often airspace changes try to shut out general aviation totally unnecessarily increasing cost and decreasing safety.

Membership of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on General Aviation includes 170 parliamentarians across both Houses of Parliament. Their mission is to help make the UK the best country in the world for General Aviation. To find out more, visit www.GeneralAviationAPPG.uk
