The 2023 Scholarship programme has opened to applicants. Our scholarships provide individuals with an opportunity to explore the career pathway options available within aviation, aerospace, and space.
Over the past decade scholarships and bursaries worth over £2 million have been allocated to young people across the UK. We look for individuals that have a passion for aviation and aerospace and the determination to succeed.
2023 will see again changes to our scholarships and bursaries for which we will endeavour to deliver the maximum impact to our beneficiaries. New opportunities are already being introduced that will enhance the career pathways of future pilots, aspiring engineers, and many other professional aviation disciplines.

What’s New?
The 2023 programme builds on a record breaking 2022 where over £180,000 was awarded to individuals across the UK. This year sees the introduction of several changes that aim to deliver the maximum impact to the Air League’s beneficiaries.
These changes include the continuation of a 3-hour scholarship to compliment the 5- and 12-hour awards. This scholarship provides an introductory course into aviation and aerospace. The course is held over a two-day period on pre-selected dates at the Air League’s approved training providers and offers an initial powered flying experience combined with ground school theory and an engineering taster experience. The scholarships aim to create a foundation for a young person’s career pathway into aviation and aerospace.
The Prince Philip Flying Scholarship will be awarded to a previous flying scholar who has displayed outstanding potential and allows the individual, who is member of the Air Training Corps and holds a Duke of Edinburgh Award, to achieve their full Private Pilot Licence.
Another key change is the lowering of the minimum age requirement for some gliding scholarships to 14.
Am I eligible?
The Air League’s scholarships are open to anyone that meets the legal requirements listed in the flying application criteria and gliding application criteria. The Air League’s vision is to change lives through aviation and believes there should be no educational, financial, or social barriers for those who want to succeed. The minimum age for some gliding applicants is 14 and the minimum age for flying applicants is 16. There is no upper age limit across all scholarships.
The Air League has also teamed up with TalentView Aviation to ensure all our scholarship applicants continue their career pathways within aviation and aerospace. TalentView is a platform for talented individuals to find first jobs, graduate roles and other exciting opportunities and be seen by employers across the UK aviation industry.
Application submissions close for entry on Sunday 30th April at 12pm BST.
