Air League Statement – easyJet Carbon offsetting

The Air League welcomes the environmentally conscious initiative from easyJet, becoming the first major airline to offset the carbon emissions from the fuel used for every single flight.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) also announced between easyJet and Airbus related to a joint research project on hybrid and electric aircraft, is an important step towards furthering the industry’s understanding of the operational and infrastructure opportunities and challenges of plug-in hybrid and full electric aircraft. easyJet and Airbus will cooperate on three distinct work packages set to define the impacts and the requirements necessary for the large-scale introduction of next generation sustainable aircraft on infrastructure and every-day commercial aircraft operations.

The Air League, as a sector leading aviation and aerospace non-profit organisation focused on changing lives through aviation welcomes this conscious and forward thinking initiative that ensures aviation is as sustainable and environmentally friendly as possible. The Air League also encourages the continued investment in next generation sustainable aircraft, fuel efficient advanced technologies and the crucial industry skills which are vital to the economic success of the UK.
