Old age is one of those things to which many of us aspire. According to Wikipedia (the font of all knowledge in some circles of our world) the definition is clear:

“Old age consists of ages nearing or surpassing the life expectancy of human beings, and thus the end of the human life cycle.” (Not exactly positive) Furthermore…. “Old people often have limited regenerative abilities and are more prone to disease, syndromes, and sickness than younger adults.” (Things are looking great then!)DSC_2849

Having had a heck of a run through The Leading Edge and reached the ripe old age of 35 years old I have passed into “Old age” in terms of The Leading Edge. To prevent any disease or sickness setting in my role has therefore changed to supporter and advocate of The Air League Leading Edge. The current panel under the brilliant direction of Scott and his deputies Joe and Harry are doing some incredible and far reaching things allowing members some exciting and unique opportunities across aviation. Long may this evolve and develop.

As all know a major part of The Air League Trust has been to award scholarships. In recognition of the fantastic time and talking with other ex scholars like myself there has long been a desire to be able to put something back into The Air League for those that benefited in their informative years. The talent coming through today is stronger than ever and former scholar Ryan Berry and myself would like to announce the formation of the “Ex-scholar Fund.”

Detail

The Ex-scholar fund is established to fund an aviation scholarship, bursary, project or opportunity that is chosen by the Leading Edge panel each year.

The LE are responsible for the Ex-scholar fund and encouraged to maximise the opportunity of aviation to people of the same age demographic as the LE within the UK. The fund is not to be used for specific social events but to fund unique opportunities or scholarships to enable air mindedness to be encouraged throughout the UK. Any funds raised above £5000 will be moved to The Air League Trust to form an ex-scholars endowment that will managed by The Air League Trustees and, when times allow, the income to be allocated by The Air League Trustees or Leading Edge panel as deemed suitable.
