The Air League is delighted to announce the launch of a 12-hour powered flying scholarship sponsored by SkyDemon.
Under The Air League’s powered scholarship programme, the intention of this award is to enable a young person to go solo and enjoy the responsibility and achievement of solo flight. The scholar will be encouraged to undertake their training on a residential basis over the course of week at one of three approved training providers to ensure consistency in their learning. The first successful SkyDemon sponsored scholar will complete their training in Summer 2018.
Since its inception over nine years ago, SkyDemon has become one of Europe’s most popular and successful solutions for tablet based visual flight rules and flight planning, and through its constantly evolving software programmes and processes has made and continues to make a major contribution to the education and airmindedness of pilots, which particularly includes young pilots in the UK. SkyDemon’s success in this area has led to the sponsoring of various good causes, the latest of which is targeted at young people through the work of the Air League.
In 2017 SkyDemon was presented the Jeffrey Quill Medal for an outstanding contribution to flight safety and air-mindedness by The Air League’s Patron, HRH Prince Philip The Duke of Edinburgh at our Annual Reception held at St James’ Palace.
The Air League Trust is the UK’s largest provider of flying scholarships and over the past decade, scholarships worth more than £2 million have been allocated to young people across the UK. The Air League looks for individuals that have a flair and passion for aviation, and determination to succeed.
