On 17th July, The Air League, in collaboration with Boeing, hosted a Flying Taster Day at London Elstree Aerodrome, giving students from Mill Hill County High School a hands-on introduction to the world of aviation.

The day began with a comprehensive briefing led by one of the aerodrome’s experienced flying instructors, ensuring students were well-prepared and excited for the experience ahead. They then took part in a simulator landing challenge, testing their skills and gaining a real appreciation for the technical side of flight.

Students also benefited from career talks delivered by two Boeing team members, who shared their career journeys and insights into the diverse opportunities available within the aerospace sector. These sessions provided invaluable guidance and left a lasting impression on the students.

To further broaden their understanding, students were given a guided tour of the aircraft hangars and the Air Traffic Control tower, gaining a behind-the-scenes look at the infrastructure that keeps aviation running safely and efficiently.

The highlight of the day for many was the chance to fly a light aircraft alongside a qualified instructor—an unforgettable experience that sparked excitement, confidence, and a deeper interest in aviation careers.

Their teacher, Mr Pawar, shared:
“The students thoroughly enjoyed the event and most left wanting to pursue a career related to aviation. The whole team were amazing and had so much knowledge.”
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Boeing for their continued partnership and support. Days like this are more than just memorable – they are transformative, helping to inspire and inform the next generation of aviation professionals.
