Tuesday the 5th May saw the Annual Reception of the Air League, at St James’s Palace. Around 350 people attended, including distinguished guests; Captain Eric “Winkle” Brown, Sir Brian Burridge, Group Captain Nicholas Cox, Baroness Garden of Frongal, Wing Commander Simon Young, Lady Nadine Cobham, and representatives from top aviation industries including Raytheon, Marshall Aerospace & Defence Group, Boeing UK and British Airways PLC.

Scholarship Winners

Thirty-eight Flying Scholarships were awarded by Sir Roger Bone, former President of Boeing UK, and the Air League’s new President. Ten Air League Gliding Scholarships, eight Engineering Scholarships and seventeen Flying Bursaries were also given to successful candidates throughout 2014.

Additionally, five combined Air League and Boeing Disabled Veterans flying scholarships and nine gliding scholarships were awarded to eligible candidates. British Airways Gliding Scholarships were awarded to seventeen members, and nine Boeing UK Gliding scholarships were also granted to young members.

This takes the total scholarships available by the Air League to 113 for 2014.
